John Dransfield was born 1857 in Birstall, West Riding of Yorkshire.
1861 Census:-John age 4 – Scholar is living with father John age 46 occupation Coal Miner, his mother Martha age 46 no occupation and his siblings George age 22 – occupation Coal Miner, Michael age 20 – occupation Coal Miner, sisters Jane age 17 occupation described as “At Home”, Mary age 14 occupation also described as “At home”, Betty age 9 – Scholar, brother Franks age 5 – Scholar. They are living at Morley Common.
1871 Census:-The family have now moved to Howden Clough, Gommersal. John age 14 – occupation Coal Miner is living with parents John age 56 – occupation Coal Miner, mother Martha age 56 – no occupation, brother Frank age 16 – occupation Coal Miner and younger brother Joseph age 4 – Scholar.
Unable to find John Dransfield on an 1881 Census Record,
On the 2nd March 1887 John was killed by a “Fall of Roof” while working at T & RW Bowers Allerton Colliery.
John was buried at St Peters Church, Morley on the 5th March 1887, on the Church Burial Record there is a comment “By Coroners order for Burial” his place of Abode on this record is Allerton Bywater.
