John Carrington was born in about 1882 and was involved in an accident at Allerton Bywater colliery on the 27th May 1940. A derrick prob snapped when the coal cutter motor started and flew. It caused a double hernia. He walked out of the pit but died of his injuries on the 31st May 1940.
This information is taken from the UK, Coal mining and death index – 1871-1951 and the England mining disaster victims. At this time I have been unable to find any other record of John. (M.T)
