1921 Census:- John E Bussey age 31 years 5months Occupation Coal Miner Hewer for Pease & Partner Colliery Owners, (Out of Work) is single and living with his parents William age 61 years 4 months – occupation Coal Miner (Out of Work) for Pease & Partners, Colliery Owners, his mother Hannah age 61 years 2 months occupation – Household Duties also living there are Margaret Mills age 24 years 11 months – widow (John’s Sister) and her two children Charles H Mills age 5 and Frederick P Mills age 6. They are living at 24 South Terrace, Esh Winning?, Durham.
John Edward Bussey age 39 was married to Elizabeth Brewster age 35 at St Mary’s Church, Swillington on the 29th December 1925.
Electoral Registers show them living at 20 St Mary’s Avenue, Swillington in 1929 to 1934.
On the 11th January 1935 John was working at T & TW Bowers Allerton Main Colliery when he was caught in a “Fall of Roof” which resulted in an Haemorrhage, (This information from Healeyhero.co.uk) John died on the 11th April 1935 age 39 and was buried at St Mary’s Church Swillington on the 6th April 1935.
