Henry Lees was born in Tunstall, Staffordshire in 1849.

1851 Census:- Henry age 4 is living at Hunty Lea, Tunstall, Staffordshire with his parents Frederick age 31 – occupation Coal Miner, his Mother Ann age 31 – no occupation, brother George age 11 – occupation Coal Miner Assistant, sister Phoebe age 7, and younger brother Frederick age 1.

1861 Census:-  The family are now living at No 5 Church Street, Tunstall, Ann now a Widow age 45 is now head of the house – occupation Household Work, George is age 20 – Occupation – Engine Driver, Phobe age 20 – Occupation – Brick Carrier, Henry age 15 – Occupation – Labourer, Frederick age 11 – Occupation – Labourer,

Ann age 7 – Scholar, John age 2 – Scholar.

On the 7th November 1869 Henry age 22 was married to Fanny Colclough in Tunstall, Staffordshire.

1871 Census:- Henry age 23 and his wife Fanny have moved to Morley, West Riding of Yorkshire and are living at 97 Jackson lane, Morley, his occupation is Coal Miner, Fanny’s occupation is described as Coal Miner wife.

1881 Census:- Henry and his family have now moved to Great & Little Preston and are living at No 4 New Long Row. Henry age 33 – occupation Coal Miner, Fanny age 29 – no occupation, daughter Annie age 9 – Scholar was born in Hightown, Castleford, daughter Eliza age 7 – Scholar also born in Hightown, Castleford. Daughter Phoebe age 3 born in Northumberland and Daughter Fanny age 6 months born in Methley. Also living there are two Lodgers Joseph Hale age 26, and Levi Hale age 20 both Coal Miners from Dudley, Staffordshire.

On the 17th March 1884 Henry age 36 was killed by a Fall of Roof whilst working at T & RW Bowers Allerton Main Colliery.
