Harry Wailes was born in about 1879 in Methley.
On the 1881 census he was 2 years old. His parents John and Faith lived at Mickletown Methley. John was a coal miner, born in Methley.
On the 1891 census Harry was 12 years old, still living in Mickletown.
On the 1901 census he was 22 living with his widowed mother at Methley working as a miner/hewer.
On the 1911 census he was 32 years old still living with his widowed mother at Silver Row Methley. His job title was a colliery examiner.
On the 1921 census he was 42 year old he was still living at Silver row Methley, his mother was living with him. He was listed as working for Airedale collieries but out of work.
Harry was married on 1st January 1927 to Mary Dodgson at St Oswald church, Methley. He was 48 and Mary 34. He lived at 6 Silver Row Methley and was listed as being a colliery deputy.
On the 1st December 1931 Harry was run over by tubs at Allerton Bywater colliery. He died on the 5th December 1931 from his injuries. He was 51 years old.
The verdict of the inquest was accidental death.
