George Tate was born on 9 Apr 1834 in Tipton, Staffordshire.
On the 1851 census he was 16 and still living in Tipton with his parents, working as a coal miner.
On the 1861 census he is married to Salena and still living in Tipton as a coal miner.
On the 1871 census he is living in Altofts working as a coal miner.
On the 1881 census he is living in Roundhill road, Castleford working as a coal miner.
George was crushed by corves on the 21st December 1883 at the New Silkstone & Haigh Moor Collier Co. Allerton Bywater Colliery. He died from his injuries on the 28th December 1883. He was 49 yeard old.
He was buried at the old Castleford cemetary.
