George Gummerson was born in 1839 at Great Preston. He was baptised at Kippax church on September 8th 1839.
The 1841 census shows him still living at Great Preston and being 2 years old.
The 1851 census he is listed as being 11 yeard old and a scholar.
The 1861 census he is listed as being 21 years old and a coal miner.
He was involved in an accident at Joshua Bowers colliery at Great Preston, where the roof fell on him breaking his back, on the 6th November 1866.
He died in March 1867 and was burried on the 17th March 1867 at Kippax church. He was 27 years old
