John William Bullock was born in the First Quarter of 1881 in Great Preston.

1881 Census:- John age 1 is with his father William age 26 born in Abinhall, Gloustershire – occupation Coal Miner and mother Naomi age 19 born Heage in Derbyshire. Also living there are Mary Ann Low born in Heage, Derbyshire (Naomi’s sister) age 27 – occupation shown as Miners wife and her two children Eileen Low age 2 born in Normanton, Yorkshire and Lydia Low age 11 months born in Astley, Swillington. They are living at No 12 New Long Row, Great Preston.

1891 Census:-  John now age 11 – Scholar is with his father William age 36 – occupation Coal Miner and mother Naomi age 29 – no occupation, sisters Elizabeth age 9 – Scholar, Alice age 8 – Scholar, Lydia age 6 – Scholar and Beatrice age 5. They are living at 12 Princess Street, Great Preston.

1901 Census:- John age 21 – occupation Coal Hewer is living at home with father William age 46 occupation – Coal Hewer, mother Naomi age 39 – no occupation (Place of Birth now shown as Ripley, Derby) sister Lydia age 16 – no occupation, sister Beatrice age 13 – no occupation, brothers Richard age 9 and Fred age 8, Joseph age 6, sister Mary E age 4. Also showing on the Census Record is James Lowe – Nephew -occupation Colliery Pony Driver (Underground) born in Normanton. Still living at 12 Princess Street, Great Preston.

John Willim Bullock was married to Ellen Lowe on the 9th January 1904 at St John’s Church, Ingrow and Hainworth.

1911 Census:- John William age 31 – occupation Coal Miner, is now head of the household and is living with his wife Ellen and their three children William age 6, Leaonard age 2 and Phylis age under one month. They are living at 8 Princess Street, Bowers Row, Woodlesford.

On the 28th July 1911 John William Bullock was working at T & RW Bowers Colliery with Daniel Farrar filling dirt into two tubs with er when 60 ton of suddenly fell on them and killed them both instantly.

John William Bullock was buried at Allerton Bywater Church on the 30th July 1911.
