William Crossland was born in 1831 and baptised on the 22nd May 1821 at Rothwell church.
He was married to Anne Clitheroe on February 26th 1854 at the parish church Rothwell.
He was living at Great Preston when he was killed, in a firedamp explosion along with Robert Lee, at the Bower & Sons. West Allerton Colliery on 10th December 1868 and burried at Allerton Bywater churchyard on December 14th 1868..
William was 37 years old.
