David Enoch Roughton was born in the second quarter of 1894, his birth was registered in Stourbridge, Worcestershire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1901 Census:- David age 7 is living at home with his father Joshua age 46 born in Pensnett, occupation Coal Miner, his mother Elizabeth age 44 born in Pensnett \u2013 no occupation, brother Joshua age 11 born in Pensnett, sister Beatrice age 5 born in Pensnett and brother Samuel age 2. They are living at 25 Blewith Street, Pensnett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1911 Census:- David age 17 occupation Glass Worker is at home with his father Joshua age 51 occupation Coal Miner (Unemployed) his mother Elizabeth age 54 \u2013 no occupation, brother Joshua age 21 \u2013 occupation Glass worker, sister Beatrice age 19 – no occupation and brother Samuel age 12. They are living at 25 Common Lane, Pensnett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Enoch Roughton joined or was called up for service in the first world war and served in France with the South Staffordshire Regiment, he was awarded the Victory, British and the 1915 Star Medals plus the Silver War Badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1921 Census:- David age 27 years 3 months \u2013 occupation Loco Shunter (Out of Work) his employer is down as the Late Earl Dudley is living with his father Joshua age 62 years 10 months \u2013 occupation – Brickyard Labourer for Parish & Hodley, his mother Elizabeth age 64 years 5 months \u2013 no occupation, and brother Samuel age 22 years 8 months \u2013 occupation Glass Blower (Out of Work) for the New English Glass works, Dudley. They are living at 25 Blewith Street, Pensnett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Enoch Roughton was married on the 26th<\/sup> December 1921 to Leah Hiscock age 24 who was living at 79 Hollinhurst at Allerton Bywater Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 4th<\/sup> March 1938 David was working underground at RW Bowers Colliery helping a Deputy set props after a roof fall, while they were setting props there was another roof fall and the Deputy and David were buried, the Deputy wasn\u2019t seriously injured but David was killed instantly and his body was recover 9 hours later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Enoch Roughton age 44 was buried at Allerton Bywater Church on the 16th<\/sup> March 1938.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
