{"id":4296,"date":"2025-01-01T16:43:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-01T16:43:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abhistory.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4296"},"modified":"2026-06-14T13:44:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T13:44:33","slug":"1887-john-dransfield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abhistory.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4296","title":{"rendered":"1887 &#8211; John Dransfield"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Dransfield was born 1857 in Birstall, West Riding of Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1861 Census:-John age 4 \u2013 Scholar is living with father John age 46 occupation Coal Miner, his mother Martha age 46 no occupation and his siblings George age 22 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner, Michael age 20 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner, sisters Jane age 17 occupation described as \u201cAt Home\u201d, Mary age 14 occupation also described as \u201cAt home\u201d, Betty age 9 \u2013 Scholar, brother Franks age 5 \u2013 Scholar. They are living at Morley Common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1871 Census:-The family have now moved to Howden Clough, Gommersal. John age 14 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner is living with parents John age 56 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner, mother Martha age 56 \u2013 no occupation, brother Frank age 16 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner and younger brother Joseph age 4 \u2013 Scholar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unable to find John Dransfield on an 1881 Census Record,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> March 1887 John was killed by a \u201cFall of Roof\u201d while working at T &amp; RW Bowers Allerton Colliery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John was buried at St Peters Church, Morley on the 5<sup>th<\/sup> March 1887, on the Church Burial Record there is a comment \u201cBy Coroners order for Burial\u201d his place of Abode on this record is Allerton Bywater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No Coroners Report was found for John Dransfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
