James Davison was born in 1860 in the county of Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1861 Census:- James age 1 is living at Brick Garth, Cassey?, Durham with father Stephen age 22 Occupation Coal Miner and mother Catherine age 23 born in Newcastle, Northumberland\u2013 no occupation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1871 Census:- James age 11 \u2013 Scholar is living with parents Stephen age 32 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner, Catherine age 32 \u2013 no occupation and  siblings George age 9 \u2013 Scholar, Hannah age 5 \u2013 Scholar, Dorothey age 2 and  Margaret A. age 6 months. All children born in Co Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1881 Census:- James age 21 occupation Coal Miner and his brother George age age 19 have now moved down to Yorkshire and are lodging with Arthur Firth (Coal Miner) and his family at 10 Waddington Row, Kippax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James was married to Mary Farrar age 18 in Castleford on the 18th<\/sup> September 1881.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1891 Census:- James age 31 \u2013 occupation Coal Miner is living with his wife Mary age 28 \u2013 no occupation, they have two children Dorothy age 9 \u2013 Scholar and Annie age 4, both born in Kippax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 19th<\/sup> May 1894 James was involved in an accidenal Gas Explosion while he and two others, Robert Saville (Colliery Undermanager) and Samuel Newell were installing pipework to extract gas from mine workings at T & R W Bowers Allerton Main Colliery (Albert Mine) and died on the 28th<\/sup> May 1894. Unable to find a UK Coal Mining Accident and Deaths Record. An Inquest was held at the Angel Inn, Allerton Bywater and after a summing up the jury recorded an \u201cOpen Verdict\u201d as there was no blame attached to anyone. (See newspaper cutting concerning the Inquest.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Davison age 35 died on the 28th<\/sup> May 1894 and was buried on the 30th<\/sup> May 1894 at St Mary\u2019s Church, Kippax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
