His father was a labourer.<br>On the 1911 census John was 3 years old and living in Ferry Fryston, his father was working at Poulson Bro.<br>On the 1921 census he was 13 years old and living at 20 Wood Street Castleford and in full time education.<br>On the 12th February 1932 he was working at Allerton Bywater colliery when he was crushed by tubs.<br>He died on the 24th February 1932 from his
